Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (DHS/CBP)
CMW is providing Solution Architecture with Interoperability, Integration and Application Security to develop CBP's e-Customs comprehensive modernization through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), funded at $3B. We have delivered Infrastructure Architecture and Interoperability that connects CBP to government systems through data integration across heterogeneous applications and interfaces with participating Federal government agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Justice, Department of Transportation, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), and worldwide carriers and trade participants. The architectural scope includes physical infrastructure, networking, OS routing, and firewalls; application security; and the use of EDI and ETL to manage large data streams. The 2015 Government Accounting Office (GAO) report to Congress cites ACE as one of only two DHS-wide programs where schedule and costs have remained stable. This is attributed to adoption of an Agile software development methodology, consolidation of ACE infrastructure, use of cloud services and open source software, along with lowered licensing costs.
